We are Daniel and Kat Ludlam and we own and operate
Willow Creek Farm and Willow Creek Fiber Mill.
Our journey into homesteading and sheep started over 20 years ago and has grown and changed a lot as our family has grown and gone through different life stages. We have 5 children, all of whom have participated in the farm through their growing up years.

2005

Our Farm Start

In 2005 we started working to build a homestead in the high-altitude Rockies to raise our own food to feed our family. Over the years it grew and we raised dairy cows, dairy goats, fiber sheep, chickens, turkeys, and ducks, as well as growing gardens for fruits and vegetables.

2017

Our Mill

In May 2017, we opened Willow Creek Fiber Mill – providing custom processing of wool, alpaca, and exotic fleece into yarn, roving, and batts for our customers.

2021

Our Growth

In 2021, we moved from the high-altitude Rockies down to the High Plains of eastern Colorado. Our farm grew to 30 acres. Over the years, our main focus had become sheep – fiber breeds, including BFLs, as well as dairy breeds.

2025

Our Present

By 2025 we decided to focus solely on BFL and BFL crosses. They provided all the things we were looking for – great fleece, milk production, and meat. We plan to expand our genetics and continue to selectively breed for excellent BFL sheep.

We got our first pair of sheep in 2013, and our love of sheep and all things fiber-related grew from there. At first we only used BFL sheep as crosses over our finewool breeds. But over the years we fell in love with everything about BFLs and now breed and raise both purebred, registered BFLs as well as a few BFL crosses. We enjoy using their fiber to make beautiful and useful items for our family through spinning, weaving, and knitting – while also using
their milk and meat to feed our family.

We love being shepherds, protecting and caring for our flock, and spending time petting them and scratching all their itchy spots. When you can’t find us, just go check the sheep pens.
